Pakistan now leader in mobile usage in South Asia, says GSMA report |
ISLAMABAD, Apr 14 (APP): Mobile industry has created more than 220,000 high-paying jobs in Pakistan and accounts for 5 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The GSM Association, a trade association of GSM mobile operators worldwide has recently released the preliminary results of a study prepared by Deloitte which also found that this sector also contributed approximately 6 per cent of the total taxes collected by the Central Board of Revenue. China Mobile to invest $400 million in Pakistan |
BOAO (April 22 2007): China Mobile is to invest 400 million dollars to extend its network in Pakistan said the company's CEO Wang Jianzhou here on Saturday. Wang said the company would step up improving sales channels and building new brands in Pakistan next year, adding that a wireless data transmission system will be built in the country. (more...)

Online software for exchange firms advised |
KARACHI, March 31: The State Bank of Pakistan has advised all money-changers to ensure installation of an efficient real-time online software to fulfill business and reporting requirements.
The SBP said in order to strengthen and streamline internal controls and overall working of the exchange companies of 'B' category, it has been advised to ensure installation of an efficient software, fully capable of fulfilling the required task, and the deadline to complete these requirements is May 31. Foreign experts role in Pakistan IT industry
|
ISLAMABAD - The IT industry paid about Rs 2.5 billion this year to foreign experts hired for consultancy and export of software.
In software consultancy the growth was 247 per cent during July-January period over the same period last year. Overall there was an impressive growth of 140 per cent on imported computer and information services during the first seven months of the fiscal year 2006-07 over the same period of the last year. Telecom imports reach $1.625 billion in third quarter

KARACHI (May 01 2007): The country's telecom imports have grown by 32percent in March as compared to February this year taking the nine-months import figure to 1.625 billion dollars. The imports reached $1.625 billion in July-March 2006-07 against $1.371 billion during the corresponding period last year registering a jump of 19 percent. (more...)
